September 2007: Thousands of monks have taken to the streets of numerous Burmese cities to peacefully express profound opposition to their repressive government. They and the brave people who are joining them do so at great risk.

In 1988 a brutal military crackdown on a similarly peaceful uprising left hundreds, even thousands, dead in the streets of Rangoon.

Unlike 1988, the people in Burma now have a connection - via the internet - with the world outside of their country.
